OMG it is SO exciting! Bunny has started crawling! A HUGE milestone! It’s amazing! Astounding! Incredible! Who would have thought I would get so excited about my baby crawling? But really, when you think about it, this crawling business is quite extraordinary! One minute he’s a big wiggly worm, helplessly rolling about from side to side and waving his arms and legs frantically in the air. And the next minute he’s a crawling caterpillar! What a metamorphosis! What a transformation!

To be honest, crawling might be an exaggeration. It’s more like slithering. But let me tell ya, he’s a fast slitherer! He can get from A to B in a jiffy! He’s going to give me a run for my money, that’s for sure. I’m going to have to keep a close eye on him.

This morning I put him down on the kitchen floor, so I could get a morning cuppa’ and the next thing you know he’s slithered off and started choking on a sunflower seed that must have dropped out of yesterday’s porridge bowl. Once I got down to his level and looked closely at the floor I realised it was covered in potential choking hazards. Bits and pieces of breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a whole host of unidentifiable small objects. Disgusting. I can’t have my bun-buns hoovering up that lot, he’s not a dog.

Gonna have to get more pro-active with the broom and step up the cleaning in the house. What a drag. Plus now I’ll have to start thinking about babyproofing the whole house. What a bore. What a chore. I expect it’ll cost me too. All that babyproofing gadgetry-must-have-stuff that you simply must have or your baby won’t be safe, and could, like DIE or something really, really terrible.

But before I get all down and despondent about the dreary details of babyproofing, let me take 5 more minutes and revel in the miracle of baby bun-buns crawling for the first time. Yes, I know it’s boring as hell for anyone who hasn’t been a mum, but this creature I created in my belly is finally taking his first steps towards independence, and I find that so exciting! He’s turning into a toddler right before my very eyes! What a star! What a trooper! Hurrah for the wonderful little slithering bun-buns!
